The Athletic Department of South Carolina State University, located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, a NCAA Division I member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), invites applications for the position of Head Women’s Basketball Coach. The Head Coach will provide leadership and manage all aspects of a holistically successful NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball program. This is a full-time, twelve-month position overseeing all aspects of an established collegiate basketball program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to, recruitment of qualified student-athletes that will compete at a high level in the classroom and on the court, monitoring academic progress towards degree, budgeting, scheduling, mentoring student-athletes, travel planning, game strategies and practice preparation, individual and team development, fundraising, community engagement, public relations, and collaboration within the Department of Athletics and across the campus. The Head Coach will ensure a culture of compliance; and along with the assistant coaches, women’s basketball staff and student-athletes must adhere to all rules, regulations, guidelines, and principles as set forth by the NCAA, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, South Carolina State University, and the laws of the State of South Carolina.
Minimum Requirements for Entry into Position:
• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of five years of collegiate coaching experience is required.
Preferred Requirements for Entry into Position:
- Master’s degree preferred
- Collegiate playing experience is preferred.
