SC State's Department of Visual and Performing Arts is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor of Music Voice- Tenure Track. The successful candidate will demonstrate creativity in programming composers of diverse backgrounds, excellence in choral pedagogy, and a commitment to teaching majors and non-major liberal arts students. Teaching responsibilities include Choir rehearsals, Choral Conducting, possibly offering Voice lessons, and other core music classes as may be needed. Additional responsibilities include serving on committees; managing the choral budget; coordinating with support staff; building the choral library; working with a staff pianist; and recruiting.

Minimum Requirements:

ABD will be considered with demonstrated skills in one or more of the following areas: Liturgical Music or Musical Theater, Solo/Ensemble Singing, Vocal Jazz or Vocal Music Education; success conducting choirs at the middle school, high school, and undergraduate levels; success in teaching vocal studies and related areas at the undergraduate level; evidence of artistic programming that demonstrates knowledge in the diverse choral repertoire for varying skill levels; demonstrated potential to contribute to choral outreach and recruitment initiatives

Preferred Requirements:

DMA in Choral Conducting or Ph.D. in Music Education with an emphasis in Choral Music or Voice; demonstrated success conducting choirs at the middle school, high school, and undergraduate levels; evidence of artistic programming that demonstrates knowledge in the diverse choral repertoire for varying skill levels; demonstrated potential to contribute to choral outreach and recruitment initiatives; demonstrated success working with students of diverse backgrounds; demonstrated piano or organ proficiency; demonstrated Vocal Pedagogy Skills; record of collaborating with interdisciplinary fields such as Theater and Dance; evidence of potential to organize and take choirs on regional, national and international tours; demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, global engagement, and/or solidarity with marginalized communities through performances or creative collaborations; active engagement in professional associations, i. e. the American Choral Directors Association
