The Division of Institutional Advancement and External Affairs here at South Carolina State University is hiring for a Marketing Manager. The Marketing Manager will report directly to the Director of Marketing with limited supervision. Manage the strategic marketing and communication functions of Enrollment Management, External Affairs, and Communications; oversee the production of all Enrollment Management marketing including, but not limited to, website, publications, brochures, videos, social media communications, and e-newsletters; direct and/or writes the content of public relations and marketing messages, publications, and program materials to ensure brand consistency; manages and/or supervises designers and contributors in support of production efforts; manages relationships with vendors and suppliers; develops and implements communication plans to support the university brand and strategic mission; defines key goals and objectives for positioning the university and its programs; identifies and employs existing and emerging channels for targeted communication; Manage the marketing, advertising, underwriting and promotional activities of Student Media. Provide primary administrative and research support for all sales and marketing activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement marketing strategies for enrollment management, external affairs, and communications, specifically targeting prospective students with the goal of increasing enrollment and retention.

Create and design marketing support pieces for admissions, student success, retention, university public relations, and marketing.

Provide assistance to the Student Media advisor. Manage and support all marketing, advertising, and promotional activities with student staff and volunteers. Assist with the distribution of all print publications.  

Collaborate with Directors, Deans, Department Chairs, and Faculty to obtain information needed to market faculty expertise, academic programs, research endeavors, and student support services.

Conduct formal and informal market research, data analyses, and focus groups, and prepare survey vehicles and applicable reports.

Edit or rewrite existing copy; read and proof materials for accuracy, style, consistency, voice, and readability, recommend and make changes where necessary.

In coordination with public relations, develop and distribute local, regional, and national media releases, pitch story ideas and manage internal and external public relations efforts.

Assist with managing and growing the university’s social media presence including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Snapchat; write and curate original social media content for advertising, recruitment, retention, and brand awareness purposes.

Assist with creating and implementing pre-alumni council recruitment marketing strategies to include but not limited to call-a-thons, rallies, open houses, and special events.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field

 

Preferred Requirements: 

 3-5 years of marketing experience
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Excellent organizational and team management skills
 Superb client relationship skills
 Proactive, responsive, professional, and punctual
 Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Cloud
 Must have a flexible work schedule for projects that go beyond 8-5
 Demonstrated ability to self-direct and take initiative on projects
