South Carolina State University (SCSU) invites applications for the position of Director of Bands within the College of Education, Human & Social Sciences. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.

Position Summary:
The Director of Bands is responsible for providing visionary leadership and management for the university's comprehensive band program. This individual will oversee all aspects of the marching band, concert bands, pep bands, and related instrumental music activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and community engagement.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct and provide artistic direction for the university's marching band, concert bands, and other instrumental ensembles.
- Recruit and retain highly talented students for the band program.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for instrumental music education.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to promote the band program and foster a positive learning environment.
- Engage in professional development activities and foster community outreach initiatives.
- Participate in university events and represent the band program at various functions.

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in music education, Conducting, or a related field is required; Doctorate degree is preferred.
- Minimum of three years of successful experience in directing college/university band programs.
- Demonstrated expertise in instrumental music pedagogy, conducting, and performance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and promote inclusivity.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
