Job Description:
The Senior Associate Athletic Director of Compliance will oversee all aspects of the NCAA, Mid-Eastern Athletics Conference (MEAC), and institutional rules within the athletic department. This role requires a deep understanding of NCAA Division I regulations, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate and educate coaches, staff, and student-athletes on compliance matters. The successful candidate will be pivotal in ensuring our athletic programs operate with the highest ethical standards and adhere to all governing body regulations.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures in accordance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all compliance-related inquiries and interpretations.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to monitor compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.
- Provide ongoing education and training to coaches, staff, and student-athletes on compliance matters, including recruiting, eligibility, and ethical conduct.
- Collaborate with various departments, including athletics administration, academic services, and student-athlete development, to ensure alignment and integration of compliance efforts.
- Manage the NCAA rules education program, including the creation and dissemination of educational materials and resources.
- Oversee the process of monitoring and reporting of recruiting activities, student-athlete eligibility, and other compliance – related matters.
- Coordinate and assist with NCAA investigation, and self-reports as necessary.
- Stay abreast of changes and updates to NCAA rules and regulations and communicate relevant information to stakeholders within the athletic department.
- Represent the athletic department in compliance-related matters with the NCAA, conference, and institutional governing bodies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required, master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in NCAA compliance within intercollegiate athletics.
- Preferred experience working directly with the NCAA.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- High level of integrity and commitment to upholding ethical standards in collegiate athletics.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NCAA Compliance Certification) preferred.
