Description of Duties and Responsibilities 

The Chair of the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department is supervised by the Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies and under the general direction of the Dean, the Chair serves as the chief Academic Officer of the Department with all duties and responsibilities attendant thereto. The Chair manages the Department as an autonomous unit that is revenue producing, data driven, and productive in scholarly and research pursuits. The Chair provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction to faculty in Speech Pathology and Audiology. The Chair, in concert with the faculty, shall maintain operational procedures, rules and standards relating to faculty and staff classification standards and accrediting bodies to ensure accreditation of eligible programs and reaffirmation of programs currently accredited.

Minimum Requirements for Entry into Position

PHD/EdD Speech - Language Pathology; three (3) years experience in diverse settings; ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology; South Carolina Licensure eligible. Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Requirements for Entry into Position

Perference given to individuals with university experience and/or a background in augmentative-alternative; child language disorders and evidence of scholarly activity are highly desired.
