  • Building visible, positive relationships with the campus community through consistent engagement and professional conduct

What You Bring

  • Current South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) certification, or eligibility to obtain certification within a defined period
  • High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field preferred
  • Valid South Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement in high-pressure situations

  • No felony convictions and ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation

Why SC State

SC State's legacy as a cornerstone HBCU in Orangeburg means the work you do every day directly supports a mission rooted in access, excellence, and equity. University employees benefit from the South Carolina state retirement system, comprehensive health coverage, and generous paid leave. As part of a close-knit campus community, you'll find that your presence genuinely matters — officers here are known by name, not badge number.
