South Carolina State University is seeking a top-level tier leader to manage and take responsibility for providing leadership, oversight, and vision for the IT department as well as the University. Under limited supervision of the Agency Head, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides leadership and directs the planning, development, implementation, and modification of information technology (IT)-related services and applications for the agency. He/she shall work to establish and implement the information governance structure and security strategies, priorities, and directives consistent with the State of South Carolina Information Security and Privacy Program. In addition to the strategic responsibilities, the CIO will be responsible for all operational aspects of the University’s computing information technology and services. The selected candidate will direct IT systems in support of all operations to improve cost-effectiveness, service quality, and institutional effectiveness. The selected candidate will also support and facilitate learning and research-related computing. This is an essential position in that it supports operations of mission-critical functions for the agency.
Minimum Requirements for Entry into Position:
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and relevant experience in information systems and technology services.
Preferred Requirements for Entry into Position:
Master’s degree with Ten (10) years of experience in information system management, six (6) of which are in a leadership role, including information security planning, scheduling, assignment, and monitoring of staff and resources, or equivalent. Expert understanding of policies related to information system services and privacy regulations, requirements, and best practices. Professional certificate related to information services or privacy (e.g., Chief Information Officer (CIO) certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Certified in Risk and Information System Control (CRISC), Certificate in Disaster Management (CDM) or similar certification is preferred.
