Protecting the Bulldog Community
As a full-time Law Enforcement Officer at SC State, you'll help maintain a safe and secure campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Reporting through the VP of Operations division, your core responsibilities will include:
- Patrolling campus grounds, buildings, and parking areas on foot and by vehicle to deter and respond to criminal activity
- Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, conducting preliminary investigations, and preparing accurate incident reports
- Enforcing South Carolina state laws, university policies, and traffic regulations on campus property
- Building visible, positive relationships with the campus community through consistent engagement and professional conduct
What You Bring
- Current South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) certification, or eligibility to obtain certification within a defined period
- High school diploma or GED; associate's or bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field preferred
- Valid South Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement in high-pressure situations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for accurate reporting and community interaction
- No felony convictions and ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation
