Position Summary:

South Carolina State University is seeking a dynamic and motivated Assistant Softball Coach to join our Division I softball program. The Assistant Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach to develop, implement, and lead all aspects of a competitive and successful NCAA Division I softball program, with a strong emphasis on recruiting, player development, academic achievement, and fostering a positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting all practice sessions and game-day coaching.

• Support all aspects of recruiting, including identification, evaluation, communication, and on-campus visits for prospective student-athletes.

• Aid in the development of student-athletes through technical and tactical instruction, mentoring, and individualized feedback.

• Support academic progress and personal development of student-athletes in coordination with academic advisors and athletic support staff.

• Assist in scouting opponents, game preparation, and video analysis.

• Participate in fundraising, alumni engagement, and community outreach efforts.

• Ensure compliance with all NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.

• Handle administrative responsibilities such as travel coordination, equipment inventory, and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

• Minimum of 1–3 years of coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or club level (college playing experience considered).

• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with a diverse group of student-athletes and staff.

• Willingness to travel and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a related field.

• Experience coaching at the NCAA Division I level.

• Proven success in recruiting and player development.

• Familiarity with video analysis software and statistical tools (e.g., Synergy, Rapsodo, Blast Motion).
