SC State University Academic Affairs Division is hiring for a Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies. The selected candidate will be responsible for increasing our graduate student enrollment, increase in participation in the student graduate council, improvement of customer service, increase effectiveness and efficiency in the operation of the Graduate Services Office, identify alternative funding sources, promote research, and improve communication with departments and programs in the College of Graduate & Professional Studies.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

1.  Supervising the department’s program of instruction, including scheduling, faculty workload, and advising graduate students and 

      majors 

2.  Annually evaluating each member of the department’s faculty and staff.

3.  Conducting searches for new faculty.

4.  Allocating funds from instructional and other departmental budgets and developing and monitoring these budgets.

5.  Conducting regular departmental meetings.

6.  Recommending applications for professional travel and sabbatical leave.

7.  Providing support and orientation for new members of the departments.

8.  Hearing informal faculty and student grievances.

9.  Advising new hires of their dates to submit tenure and promotion and post-tenure review dossiers.

10. Carrying out other such duties as shall be assigned by the Dean and/or Provost as described in college policy and department by-

      laws.

Minimum Requirements for Entry into Position: 

Ph.D. or Master's Degree with extension experience in Graduate Programs or Admissions.

Preferred Requirements for Entry into Position:

The ability to articulate a vision for the Graduate College; demonstrated effectiveness in budget management and fundraising; led faculty to embrace change and create an environment that fosters growth and development.
