Civil Engineering
The Department of Engineering at South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina, invites applications or nominations for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor in our Civil Engineering program for Fall 2024.
Responsibilities: Required courses the successful candidate will be expected to teach include but are not limited to Plane Surveying, GPS & Control Surveying, Foundation Engineering, Structural Analysis, Structural Design, Reinforced Concrete Design, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials Laboratory, Construction Engineering and Management, Water and Sewage System, Senior Project Proposal, Senior Design Project, Statics, and Dynamics.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct research, perform academic advisement, develop a research program that engages undergraduate civil engineering students and, develop a research program that generates external funding and leads to scholarly publications, committee assignments, community service and, other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering are required. Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering preferred. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English.
The highest preference will be given to U.S. Citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications.
