The Visual Arts Program in the Department of Visual & Performing Arts at SC State University seeks a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate courses in Art History and Art Appreciation with knowledge of Art History and Aesthetics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Duties include committee assignments, shared gallery management, departmental responsibilities, and university/community service. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular campus and workplace attendance schedule.
  • Teaching responsibilities include but are not limited to art history: ARTH 215 Art History Survey I, ARTH 216 Art History Survey II, ARTH 420 Modern and Contemporary Art History, ARTH African American Art History, and ART 250 Art appreciation courses.
  • The successful candidate will teach four courses each semester; actively participate in the Visual Arts Program unit and serve as academic advisor to assigned students.
  • Other responsibilities include Departmental, School/College, and University committee services. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential.

Minimum Requirements:

Doctorate in a related Field, with 3 years of teaching experience.
