The Assistant Director for Retention and Student Success role is a leadership position focused on improving student persistence, engagement, and academic achievement through targeted programs, data-driven strategies, and collaborative partnerships. This position reports to the Executive Director for Retention and Student Success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement retention initiatives for diverse student populations, including first-year, transfer, adult, online, and international students
  • Design and deliver student success programs such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and targeted interventions.
  • Assess and analyze retention-related data to identify risks, track progress, and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Provide coaching and retention support to students facing academic, financial, or personal challenges.
  • Collaborate with academic advising, academic affairs, enrollment management, and faculty to align services with student needs and institutional goals.
  • Train and assign academic advisors to ensure effective student support.
  • Serve as liaison between students, faculty, departments, and external partners.
  • Represent the office on committees, boards, and conferences to promote retention strategies.

Minimum Requirement: 

Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of 3–5 years in student success, advising, case management, or retention initiatives, with experience supporting non-traditional and/or international students.

Preferred Requirement: 

  • Masters in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field preferred and at least 3 years of direct supervisory experience preferred.  Strong interpersonal, coaching, data analysis, communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities.
