Patrols assigned areas to prevent crime and detect violations of law. Responds to complaints, reports of violations, and requests for assistance. Issues warnings and citations to violators. Apprehends and arrests violators. Investigates hunting, boating, and/or traffic accidents. Directs traffic and controls crowds. Performs general police work such as maintaining order during emergencies, participating in manhunts, and providing executive protection. Testifies in court and other legal proceedings. Keeps records and makes reports regarding activities. Provides guidance and on-the-job training to other law enforcement personnel. Serves as a first-line supervisor of other public safety personnel. |

The applicant should possess a strong background in Fire Protection Engineering. The faculty member appointed to this position will be responsible for teaching a comprehensive range of core undergraduate courses in Fire Protection Engineering. These courses may include Life Safety Analysis (Introduction and Advanced), Fire Protection Fluid Mechanics, Smoke Management and Fire Alarm Systems, Water-Based Fire Protection System Design, Structural Fire Protection, Advanced Fire Suppression, Fire Dynamics, Fire-Informed Performance-Based Design, Fire Assessment Methods Lab and Proposal, as well as Fire Assessment Methods and Capstone. Furthermore, the applicant will contribute to the development of laboratories for this new concentration within the civil engineering curriculum. Additionally, the applicant may be required to assist the engineering department in offering basic engineering courses including but not limited to statics, land surveying, strength of materials, CAD drawing, and engineering ethics. Effective teaching, scholarly activities, and service to the University are required for retention, promotion, and tenure |
