Agricultural Extension Agent- Upstate Region Administration – Orangeburg, SC
Under the supervision of the Upstate Regional Director, the Agricultural Extension Agent will: • Oversees the Sustainable Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment (SANRE) Program. Plans, designs, and implements project activities using research-based findings in sustainable ag, natural resources, and environment to solve problems. Advises, instructs, and assists individuals involved in agriculture production, post-harvesting, agriculture technologies, enterprise marketing, natural resources, and environmental activities. • Network and build coalitions with other federal, state, local agencies, organizations, and institutions to address the complex needs of the SANRE Program. Identify, recruit, train support, and manage volunteers, if necessary, to implement and carry out the SANRE educational programming in the region. • Uses in-person or alternative service program delivery assessment recommendations along with appropriate technologies to plan and deliver programs through workshops, seminars, conferences, one-on-one visits, field trips, and tours. • Plans, executes, and evaluates the SANRE Program educational programs for farmers in the region with an emphasis on small-scale farmers. Conducts needs assessments to design programs emphasizing SANRE needs. Create and implement a program designed to facilitate farm enterprise project activities. Provides leadership to the regional SANRE program and manages its day-to-day operations.
Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications Administration – Orangeburg, SC
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Strategic Communications, the assistant marketing and communications director will: • Performs project management oversight; preferably for creative teams by setting timelines, mapping milestones, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects with competing priorities. • Ensures optimum production is achieved and that services are provided in a professional and timely manner. Delegates responsibilities and provides direct supervision to Marcom staff. • Prepares and disseminates press releases, stories, or features per month and garners additional media outlets. Pitches news stories about the organization and responds to reporter requests by arranging and coordinating interviews for administrators, faculty researchers, staff, and students. • Works with outside vendors and consultants to include, but is not limited to printers, graphic designers, ad agencies, photographers, copywriters, editors, and vendors to enhance publications, media relations, marketing, branding, and other strategic communications.
IT Technician I Administration – Orangeburg, SC
Maintain computer equipment and provide support to anyone within the organization who needs technological assistance. Perform maintenance to configure components/software and install routine updates to system software and devices. Respond to service ticket requests by diagnosing and repairing network connectivity, computer hardware, and software. Provide technical support to all users. Under the supervision of the Director of IT Services, the IT Technician I will: • Assists with the installation and implementation of computer systems and/or telecommunications networks (LANs, Wireless Access, Cables, Wiring, Switches, and Hubs, etc.). Performs periodic maintenance and monitoring of computer systems. Performs pre-configured port activations on network switches. • Applies simple, state-of-the-art technology to meet and improve the network control center. Assists with installing hardware, equipment, and telecommunications infrastructure. Assists with providing information and/or telecommunication network systems monitoring, problem analysis, tracking, and resolution. • Assists in documenting information and/or telecommunication network systems outages, changes, and procedures. Provides customer service for all information and/or telecommunication network systems support areas. • Assists with designing hardware configurations and installing hardware. Assists with planning, design, and evaluations relative to communication networking and operations layouts. Assists with coordinating operation of systems; maintains all system documentation; monitors all system maintenance; maintains records of equipment and replacement plan. • Assists with conducting interviews to determine user needs. Assists with evaluating technologies and makes recommendations for adoption.
Farm Manager Administration – Orangeburg, SC
Under the supervision of the Associate Extension Administrator, the Farm Manager will: • The Farm Manager’s responsibilities include implementing farming policies, planning and managing the daily operations of the farm, and ensuring the farm is running effectively and efficiently. • Performs livestock and crop production activities, as directed by the associate extension administrator. Assist in land preparation, irrigation, fertilization, pest, and disease management. Understands agricultural cropping systems, pest and disease control, production practices, and crop maintenance. • Maintain upkeep of buildings and farm grounds. Oversees the maintenance and repair of equipment, vehicles, and facilities. Coordinates daily production to achieve the most efficient cost of production while meeting the maximum yield and quality goals. • Builds and maintains positive rapport with community partners. Instruct volunteers on basic farming skills. Assists with research and educational activities by following verbal and written protocols and communicating effectively with South Carolina State University researchers, educators, and the public. • Participates in training and supervises student employees working with livestock and performing other farm duties. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Executive Assistant I Administration – Orangeburg, SC
Under the supervision of the VP of Public Service & Agriculture and Executive Director of 1890 Research and Extension, the Executive Assistant will: • Assists with the daily management of general office operations (i.e., compose written communication and proofread correspondence; travel authorization, travel reimbursement, direct purchase voucher, etc.; maintains office records by sorting, organizing, and filing all documents, and retrieving information as requested. • Proficiently take and transcribe minutes for administrative team meetings, and individual monthly meetings as assigned by the administrator. • Collects and correlates administrative team weekly, monthly, and yearly reports. • Maintains administrator’s schedule and organizes calendar. Is the Executive Director point-person for meeting scheduling, organizing, and managing a busy calendar while keeping the administrator on time for appointments daily?
