South Carolina State University seeks a dynamic, innovative, and experienced Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach to lead the offensive unit of its Division I FCS football program in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive offensive strategy and directly coaching the quarterback position. The ideal candidate will be a teacher of the game, a developer of talent, and a recruiter of high-character student-athletes who embody the proud tradition of Bulldog football.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Design and implement the overall offensive philosophy, game plans, and weekly adjustments to maximize performance.
• Provides input to offensive play-caller on game days, making real-time decisions to exploit defensive weaknesses.
• Directly coach the quarterbacks, focusing on fundamentals, leadership, decision-making, accuracy, and football IQ.
• Oversee all offensive position coaches, fostering collaboration and consistent execution of the offensive system.
• Conduct detailed film study, opponent breakdowns, and scouting reports to inform weekly preparation.
• Identify, recruit, and sign student-athletes who fit the academic, athletic, and cultural expectations of South Carolina State University.
• Promote the academic progress, character development, and personal growth of student-athletes.
• Ensure compliance with all NCAA, MEAC, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with strength and conditioning, athletic training, academic support, and compliance units to support the holistic development of the student-athletes.
• Represent the program and university in a positive and professional manner, building relationships on campus and in the community.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years of collegiate coaching experience on the offensive side of the ball.
• Demonstrated success in coordinating an offense and/or coaching quarterbacks.
• Deep understanding of offensive systems, tempo, personnel packages, and situational football.
• Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and recruiting processes.
• Proven ability to teach, mentor, and lead student-athletes.
Preferred:
• Experience as an Offensive Coordinator at the FCS or FBS level.
• Prior coaching and/or recruiting experience in the Southeast and/or within HBCUs.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Track record of offensive statistical success and quarterback development.
Work Expectations:
• Must be able to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be available for travel related to games and recruiting responsibilities.
• High level of energy, adaptability, and commitment to program standards.
