The baccalaureate Social Work program at South Carolina State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenured track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Social Work. This is a nine-month appointment, scheduled to begin in August 2022. Our program seeks applicants to provide instruction, particularly in the areas of Human Behavior I (HBSE), Human Behavior II (HBSE II), Social Welfare Policy and Services, and social work electives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Activities required of all faculty include teaching, engaging in research and scholarly activities, student advising; and service to the department, college, university, and the community.

Minimum Requirements: 

An MSW with a minimum of two years post-MSW experience in Social Work as well as the ability to teach in a BSW program; possess an ability to relate effectively to persons from diverse backgrounds and significant constituent groups, and be able to effectively manage a student learning environment. It is expected that the applicant will possess effective oral and written communication skills, planning, and organizational skills.

Preferred Requirements: 

Candidate must have both, a Doctorate of Social Work or Ph.D. in Social Work and MSW from a CSWE accredited institution, plus three to five years of social work practice. Three years of teaching in social work is preferred.
