Job Title:

Executive Director of Compliance Services

South Carolina State University Athletics Department is seeking an Executive Director of Compliance. This individual will develop procedures and policies to monitor and ensure compliance with the university, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations in the areas of recruiting, financial aid, amateurism and initial eligibility. The Director is responsible for overseeing compliance areas and serving as lead in maintaining consistent and equitable policies for all sports. The Director is responsible for the overall quality and comprehensive nature of the Compliance Office for the South Carolina State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. 

Job Functions: 

*Oversees the athletic department compliance office

*Reviews compliance documents to ensure accuracy

*Oversee the NCAA Constitution and all applicable bylaws

*Provide ongoing rules education program for athletic department staff, boosters and other university personnel

*Serve as campus liaison between institution and NCAA

*Update coaches, department staff,  financial aid, registrar and other campus personnel of legislation changes

*Investigate and report violations of NCAA regulations in accordance with MEAC policies

*Prepare institutions response to all NCAA violations

*Supervise the initial, continuing and transfer eligibility certification process to ensure its completing in accordance with NCAA regulations

*Manage all sports post season NCAA appearance paperwork to ensure accuracy and completion

*Oversee National Letter of Intent(NLI) in accordance with NCAA and institutional plan

*Evaluate prospective student-athlete initial, transfer eligibility

*Manages APR for all sports

*Track Academic Success Rate(ASR) and Federal Graduation Rate(GSR) in conjunction with the Faculty Athletic Representative(FAR) and university personnel

*Manage NCAA platforms such as Eligibility Center, Compliance Assistant, or other platforms on behalf of the institution for record keeping purposes

*Provide rules interpretation and monitor playing and practice seasons

*Review and revise compliance manual annually

*Prepare and complete NCAA and MEAC compliance reports

*Manage prospective student athlete(PSA)) recruitment lists in collaboration with the Admissions office and Financial Aid

*Work in conjunction with Academics to develop and implement strategies to support student athlete academic success

*Create a compliance intern program

Other Duties as assigned

 

Preferred Requirements:

A Master’s degree with three years of experience in Division I Compliance within an institution or conference setting

Analytical and data coordination skills and knowledge

Experience with compliance software is required

Progressive experience in athletics rules compliance/interpretation preferred

Knowledge of and commitment to strict adherence of NCAA, MEAC and institutional bylaws

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail

Working knowledge of computer systems
