South Carolina State University is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced professional to serve as Assistant Registrar. This key position supports the overall mission of the University by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of academic records. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with Degree Works and other student information systems to support graduation audits, academic advising, compliance, and data integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead the daily operations related to Degree Works, including scribing, testing, troubleshooting, and managing updates in coordination with IT and academic departments.
• Monitor and maintain the integrity of academic records and ensure compliance with FERPA, SACSCOC standards, and institutional policies.
• Oversee graduation processes, including the review and approval of degree audits for undergraduate and graduate students.
• Collaborate with academic departments, advisors, and faculty to ensure accurate program requirements and curriculum updates are reflected in Degree Works.
• Assist with the registration process, including scheduling, grade processing, enrollment verifications, and transcript requests.
• Support NCAA eligibility certification and academic compliance for student-athletes in coordination with Athletics and Academic Affairs.
• Serve as a key contributor to process improvement initiatives, including policy development and system enhancements.
• Provide training and support to faculty, staff, and students in the use of Degree Works and other registrar-related systems.
• Represent the Registrar’s Office at university meetings, orientations, and events as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Registrar’s Office or related area in higher education.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Degree Works, including scribing and system maintenance.
- Familiarity with student information systems such as Banner.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service.
Preferred Requirements
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Services, or a related field.
- Experience with NCAA eligibility certification processes.
- Knowledge of academic advising, curriculum management, and degree planning.
